La Dolce Vita – Image 2

…From flying Christ that fills the screen (La Dolce Vita – Image1), there is a cut to a masked dancing actor in a night club show (La Dolce Vita – image2). The actor wearing the mask fills the screen just like the statue of Christ in the previous scene. This immediate change between the images one and two presents a sacred-profane dichotmy.

This unexpected yet subtle transition of imagery sugests the confusion of the borders and limits that Mrcello is dealing with throughout the movie. It also can be a sugestion on gray areas in human life. Where does sacred end and profane begin?
